Since 1930, scientists have been measuring the slow retreat of the Lyell and Maclure Glaciers in Yosemite's highest alpine corner. Instructors Pete Devine and Greg Stock are looking for a small group of fit, agile and experienced backpackers to join us in collecting this year's reference photographs and ice measurements. If you're ready for the cold of autumn at 12,000' and want to walk on a glacier before it's gone we hope to hear from you.
Hiking:a very challenging backpack, 10 miles in/out, much off-trail scrambling on steep, uneven, unstable terrain, quite cold at night, from 8600-12,000'. You must be experienced and prepared.
The price for YA members is $306.
