Shirley Spencer has lived and worked in the Sierra Nevada since 1979. She earned a B.A. in Life Science from Pacific Union College and an M.A. in Environmental Studies from Fresno Pacific University. Shirley began teaching natural history and park interpretation classes for the Yosemite Institute in 1986. A gifted and versatile artist, she specializes in watercolors, with an emphasis on Sierra Nevada landscapes and botanical illustrations. She has co-authored and published two books and several magazine articles with her husband, Mark.
