CONCESSIONERS IN THE PARK

What is DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite? the "Curry Company"?
How do the concessioners determine their prices?

What is DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite? the "Curry Company"?

The Yosemite Park & Curry Company was the primary concessioner in Yosemite National Park for nearly 70 years, under various ownership, until September, 1993. Beginning October 1, 1993, Yosemite Concession Services Corp. (YCS) assumed responsibility under a 15-year contract. That company later changed its name to DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite. The concession contract is issued and administered by the National Park Service to provide services for park visitors. The NPS regulates lodging, food service, bus tours, horse rides and most of the shops in the park, and sets rates and prices.

How do the concessioners determine their prices?

All prices and service rates are approved by the National Park Service, since all commercial operations in Yosemite are under contract to the NPS. Prices are set after comparing similar services or operations in the private sector outside the park. These comparable prices may be adjusted upward or downward based on local circumstances unique to the park (e.g. distance of freight transport, visitation patterns, provision of employee housing).
