Yosemite Valley Campgrounds
Check-in/check-out time for Yosemite Valley campgrounds is l0:00 a.m. Campsites in the Valley campgrounds are assigned by Biospherics, Inc. when the reservation is made. Campers may request a specific campsite number (if it is available) when they make their reservation. Campsite assignments are final. Campers may not switch or change campsites after they arrive in the park. Maximum length for recreational vehicles in Valley campgrounds is 40 feet.
There is a 30-day camping limit within Yosemite National Park in any calendar year; however, the camping limit in Yosemite Valley is seven days, from May 1 to September 15. Yosemite Valley campgrounds are not wheelchair accessible
Sunnyside Walk-In Campground is open all year on a first-come, first-served basis. Sites are rented on a "per person basis," and six people will be placed in each campsite, regardless of the number of people in your party. Sunnyside fills (often before 9:00 am.) each day May through September.
Campgrounds Outside Yosemite Valley
Check-in/check-out time for campgrounds outside Yosemite Valley is noon. Maximum length for recreational vehicles is 35 feet.
There is a 30-day camping limit within Yosemite National Park during any calendar year; however, from May 1 to September 15 inclusive, the camping limit outside the Valley is limited to a total of not more than 14 days, except for Wawona, which is limited to 7 days. Wawona and Hodgdon Meadow are open all year . Other campgrounds outside the Valley are open during the summer months.
Group Campgrounds
There are four group campgrounds in Yosemite: in Wawona, Tuolumne Meadows, Hodgdon Meadow and Bridalveil Creek. The valley group campground was destroyed in the January 1997 flood. A maximum of 30 people are allowed in each group campsite, and check-in/check-out time is noon.
During periods of peak visitation, all group campsites may be booked early. Make reservations for the Wawona and Bridalveil Creek group camps by writing to: Wawona Group Reservations, Wawona District Office, P.O. Box 2027, Yosemite, CA 95389 no sooner than 12 weeks in advance.
Locating your Camp by Number
The numbering system for camping areas dates back to the 1800s and was formalized during the time of the Cavalry after 1906.
