The Yosemite Association and the Yosemite Fund are Merging!
Dear Yosemite Fund and Yosemite Association Supporters,
We're thrilled to announce a historic new era for Yosemite National Park! The boards of trustees of The Yosemite Fund and Yosemite Association have agreed to form a unified nonprofit organization, following overwhelming votes of approval by Association members and the Fund's Council. This is an exciting moment for a special place that we all treasure. With your continued support, we can do more than ever to protect Yosemite and inspire enduring connections for current and future generations.
Whether your passion is contributing to projects that restore and enhance Yosemite, education, volunteering or art programs, we are grateful for your generosity. We anticipate the merger will take legal effect in January, although outwardly, the Fund and the Association will operate as we are now until mid year. In fact, your continuing support is crucial to many wonderful projects and programs already planned for 2010. We'll keep you informed of transition news through our website, e-news and meetings. A Q&A about the merger is posted on our websites.
John Muir once said, "No temple made with hands can compare with Yosemite... the grandest of all special temples of Nature." Like Muir, a unified organization will have an unwavering dedication to providing for Yosemite's future. We are profoundly grateful for the support of our members, donors, volunteers and staffs who have helped us reach this new and exciting chapter in our proud histories.
